1.How to get vintage license plates registered to your Packard.
If you want to get original plates licensed to your car, they MUST be painted in the original color scheme of the year.TX DOT will not allow you to paint them to match the color of your car. Both plates must be rust-free and respectable condition....No extra holes allowed.
You will need to take them to an appropriate TX Dot office (I took them to the court house annex in Richmond.) where they will be inspected . If approved, a small dated tag will be issued, which must be attached to the upper right corner of the rear plate.

Texas Emissions Exemption: SAN-opposed legislation that would have repealed the state’s 25-year rolling emissions exemption was defeated in conference committee. The defeated Senate amendment would have repealed the exemption and replaced it with a provision requiring all vehicles ’80 and newer to be tested for the remainder of the vehicle’s life.
